Authors and Books for Children (ABC) Day takes place on Thursday, July 12.

Six nationally-renowned children's authors will be in Frome throughout the day to lead sessions for children of all ages.

ABC Day co-ordinator Karin Campagna said: "They are travelling from across the country to share their amazing books. Last year more than 200 children joined in, this year it's bigger, with places for 300 children. Before July anyone can read and vote for their favourite ABC Day book and everyone who comes along is guaranteed a brilliant, fun time."

ABC Day 2012 will take place in Frome Library and The Bennett Centre or St John's Church Hall. Tickets cost £1 and prompt booking at Hunting Raven Bookshop is advised. For full details visit www.huntingravenbooks.co.uk.

Tom McLaughlin and Jason Chapman, both author-illustrators of younger children's picture-story books, will be sharing the books with five to six-year-olds. Jeremy Strong and Jeanne Willis will be entertaining up to seven to nine-year-olds with their Olympic-themed stories. Local author Joffre White and best-selling author Daniel Blythe will be there for ten to 12-year-olds.

Official writer of Doctor Who novels, short stories and articles, Daniel Blythe will be in Frome Library at 7pm on Thursday, July 12, for a romp through The Time Vortex; a perceptive potted history of the Time Lord from William Hartnell to Matt Smith.

Tickets for A Voyage through Time and Space are £5 or £3.50 for students available from Frome Festival box office at the Cheese and Grain. The venue is suitable for those aged 11 and over.
