Staff at Seven Fish Bar, in Frome, bathed in batter for seven hours for charity.

Maria Mullane, owner of the Church Street chip shop, came up with the idea and hopes to raise £700 or Positive Action on Cancer by Christmas Eve.

Mrs Mullane said: "We wanted to do something out of the ordinary for the charity, which touches so many people in the town.

"We sat in the bath for an hour at a time and lots of people came along to support us throughout the day.

"It was a really fun day and Ragen Coles raised the most money in his hour in the batter, about £30. But I'd like to thank all my staff for getting involved and everyone who came along to support us.

"We haven't totalled the amount raised on the day yet, but we will keep going until we have raised £700."

The shop also held a cake sale and a raffle.

The next fundraising event will be a Christmas quiz night on Saturday, December 15, from 7.30pm.

It will cost £2 each to enter a team of four and the quiz will be held at the shop.

To enter, book in advance as space is limited by calling 01373 473115.
