Harry's Hydro and Critchill School have been presented a cheque from the Frome Half Marathon committee.

The success of the event in July enabled the committee to give £6,653.58 split equally between the two recipients.

At the presentation were members of Frome Running Club and Frome Rotary Club, along with sponsors.

Humphrey Barnes, president of the Rotary Club of Frome, presented cheques to Paula Fox, mother of Harry, for Harry's Hydro, and to Mark Armstrong, head teacher at Critchill School.

The evening also gave the committee the chance to acknowledge the outstanding support of main sponsors Kim Lowe and Kevin Whitmarsh, from Old Mills Financial Services, and Chester Barnes from UKSH, both from Shepton Mallet, the third main sponsor from Dairy Crest Frome was unable to attend the evening.

A committee spokesman said: "The committee would like to thank all the other sponsors of the half-marathon, and would like to give particular thanks to the Frome Town Football Club for their hospitality."

Next year's half-marathon will be held on Sunday July, 21.
