A FROME sales assistant is swinging into action to raise money for a charity trip to Africa.
Mark Loveless, 19, is putting on a jazz evening to ahead of his five month trip to Tanzania with Go Make A Difference.
Affectionately known as Go MAD, the charity will give Mark the chance to work on development projects.
To raise money for these schemes Mark, a keen musician, is holding a free jazz evening - with any donations going to his £300 target.
Mark said, "The event will provide me with the opportunity to help fund the development projects I will be involved with in Tanzania. It is vital that I reach the £300 target set by Go MAD, as all of the money raised will go directly into the development projects I will be involved in; into materials, medicine, hospital visits, tools, wages for the local workers etc, and not the cost of my trip.
"In light of the recent crisis in the Philippines, I will also be giving 10 per cent of all cash donations from the event to Tearfund's Typhoon Haiyan emergency response fund. I hope that there will be a good turn out and that people will bring their family and friends to enjoy a fun and relaxed evening of jazz."
The gig will be at Holy Trinity Church in Frome on December 14 at 7pm.
Refreshments and entry are free, however as this is a fundraising event any donations would be much appreciated.
Mark is also offering a hand-car wash service to anyone who is willing to donate to Go MAD's work.
